About us - Phage4-1Health - The Phage Therapy Consortium

Who we are

We are a consortium of physicians and scientists promoting phage therapy as an answer to the alarming increase in infections with multiantibiotics-resistant bacteria (IMARB) worldwide.

IMARB are predicted by the WHO to cause 100 million fatalities worldwide by 2050.

The antibiotic resistance epidemic could lead to public health problems last seen during the preantibiotic era, and possibly a 'century of infections' if not dealt with swiftly.

Previously treatable bacterial infections as banal as urinary tract, respiratory tract and wound infections developing into septicemia are potentially life threatening again due to the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in animal food production and lack of antibiotic stewardship in medicine resulting in multiantibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens.

Our aims and goals

The Phage Therapy Consortium aims to promote phage therapy in combination with responsible use of existing antibiotics inlogo a one-health approach as a new tool in the fight against bacterial infections of the future.

The Phage Therapy Consortium aims to prevent the potential misrepresentation of phage therapy in public perception and social media through information based on scientific findings and fact.

The goal of The Phage Therapy Consortium is to alert and inform the public about the real dangers to society of antibiotic multi-resistance, and by explanation of the basics and the means of production pave the way for regulatory approval and eventually clinical application of bacteriophages for therapy.
